FiveM for GTAV Enhanced (BETA)

Quick summary

Your YorkHost FiveM servers can now run on FiveM for GTAV Enhanced, the version of FiveM built on GTA V Enhanced (next-gen). The option is available free of charge on every YorkHost FiveM plan, in BETA. Activation takes a single checkbox followed by a server reinstall.

What is FiveM Enhanced?

There are now two versions of FiveM:

FiveM LegacyFiveM for GTAV Enhanced
Game required on the player sideGTA V (classic version)GTA V Enhanced
StatusStableBETA (Cfx.re early access)
SynchronizationOneSyncPure client-server (reduced latency)
Game contentDepends on chosen gamebuildLatest gamebuild only (The Kortz Center Heist)
Asset Escrow (protected Tebex scripts)SupportedNot supported for now
Client-side graphics modsPossibleBlocked (pure mode enforced)
txAdminSupportedNot supported for now

FiveM Enhanced is not just an update: it's a separate platform, with its own server files and its own client. Both versions coexist, and FiveM Legacy remains the recommended version for most production servers.

Why switch to Enhanced?

  • Enjoy GTA V Enhanced's graphics and performance on the player side
  • Benefit from the new client-server network model, which reduces latency
  • Access the latest game content, loaded by default
  • Get your server ready for the future of the platform

Why stay on Legacy for now?

  • Your Tebex scripts protected by Asset Escrow will not work on Enhanced until Cfx.re implements the system
  • All of your players must own GTA V Enhanced
  • Some ecosystem resources are not yet compatible or converted
  • It's a BETA: expect bugs and frequent changes, with no stability guarantee
Our recommendation

If you run a production RP server with an active community, stay on Legacy and test Enhanced on a second server before any migration.

Enabling FiveM Enhanced on your server

Important

This operation reinstalls the FiveM server files. Your resources, your server.cfg and your txAdmin data are preserved, but make a backup before doing anything, just in case.

  1. Log in to your management panel
  2. Open your FiveM server, then go to the Startup tab
  3. Locate the FiveM Enhanced (BETA) variable and check it
  4. Go to the Settings tab and start a server reinstall
  5. Once the reinstall is complete, start the server as usual

The install console shows a banner confirming Enhanced mode as well as the downloaded version. The server's asset cache is automatically purged when the version changes to avoid any conflict (it regenerates on the next start, so the first boot may take a little longer).

To go back to FiveM Legacy, uncheck the variable and run a reinstall the same way.

What actually changes in Enhanced mode

  • Installed version: the latest available Enhanced version is downloaded automatically. The version selector (the "fivem version" variable) is ignored in Enhanced mode during the BETA. Cfx.re does not publish a version history for Enhanced at the moment.
  • License: your cfx.re license key (keymaster) works the same way.
  • server.cfg: your existing configuration is preserved. Note that Enhanced accepts only one endpoint_add_tcp and one endpoint_add_udp; our system automatically configures the correct endpoint, so you don't have to do anything.
  • Gamebuild: the latest gamebuild is loaded by default. To load the base game with no DLC, add sv_enforceGameBuild 1 to your server.cfg.
  • OneSync: no OneSync configuration is needed anymore, big mode is the only mode and it's active by default.

On the player side

Your players must:

  1. Own GTA V Enhanced (the next-gen version of the game on PC)
  2. Install the FiveM for GTAV Enhanced client, separate from the classic FiveM client

A player using the classic FiveM client cannot join an Enhanced server, and vice versa. Be sure to communicate clearly with your community before switching.

Resource and script compatibility

  • Lua and JavaScript scripts: the vast majority work without modification. A few behavior differences exist (state bags, replication); check the Cfx.re documentation if a script behaves differently.
  • C# scripts: the runtime moved from Mono to .NET. C# resources may require an update from their developer.
  • Tebex scripts with Asset Escrow: not functional on Enhanced for now (a Cfx.re limitation, not YorkHost). They rely on a protection system that does not yet exist on the Enhanced side.
  • Custom assets (mappings, vehicles, clothing...): assets created for Legacy must be converted with Alchemist, Cfx.re's official tool. Documentation: https://docs.fivem.net/docs/alchemist/
  • Voice: Mumble is deprecated on Enhanced. See the Cfx.re voice documentation for alternatives.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost more? No. The Enhanced option is included free of charge on every YorkHost FiveM plan, at no extra cost.

Can I have a Legacy server and an Enhanced server at the same time? Yes, each server is configured independently. This is in fact the method we recommend for testing: keep your main server on Legacy and test Enhanced on a secondary server.

Will my players on classic GTA V be able to join my Enhanced server? No. An Enhanced server is only accessible with GTA V Enhanced and the FiveM Enhanced client.

Can I choose a specific Enhanced version? Not for now. During the BETA, only the latest version released by Cfx.re is available and it is installed automatically.

What happens if I check the box without reinstalling? The server will refuse to start with an explicit message inviting you to reinstall. No data is lost, you just need to run the reinstall.

Does txAdmin work on Enhanced? Not yet. txAdmin is not supported on FiveM Enhanced for now (a Cfx.re limitation during early access). On an Enhanced server, your server starts in classic server.cfg mode even if the txAdmin option is enabled, and a message says so in the console. txAdmin support will be re-enabled automatically as soon as Cfx.re makes it available.

If I switch back to Legacy, do I get my server back as before? Yes. Uncheck the option, reinstall, and your server gets its FiveM Legacy files back. Your resources and your configuration are preserved.

Known issues (BETA)

  • Asset Escrow unavailable: protected Tebex scripts do not load
  • txAdmin not supported: Enhanced servers start in classic server.cfg mode
  • Some default or legacy resources in .rpf format may fail to load with a cache error ("Failed to generate cache"): these assets must be converted with Alchemist
  • The sv_endpointprivacy command no longer exists on Enhanced: if your server.cfg contains it, a harmless error is shown at startup, just remove the line
  • No version selection and no rollback to an earlier Enhanced version
  • The ecosystem (frameworks, community resources) is being adapted; check the compatibility announced by each developer
  • Client-side graphics mods are blocked during early access
