AI, playable dinosaurs and growth
These settings shape the experience on your island: AI creatures, the species players can pick, growth speed and the main survival mechanics. They live in Game.ini. To open and edit this file, first follow Configuring Game.ini and Engine.ini.
Key and section names change between Evrima versions. The examples below are guidance only: edit the lines found in the Game.ini generated by your server on first startup, and stop the server before making any change.
AI creatures
AI covers the non-player creatures that populate the island (small prey, fish, etc.). It feeds carnivores and brings the map to life, but it is also the biggest driver of the server's RAM usage.
| Key (check it in your file) | Purpose |
|---|---|
bSpawnAI | Enables (true) or disables (false) AI spawning |
AIDensity | AI density: the higher the value, the more creatures |
AISpawnInterval | Interval between two AI spawn waves |
DisallowedAIClasses | AI species to exclude, depending on the version |
Example:
bSpawnAI=true
AIDensity=1
If your server's RAM is often maxed out, lower AIDensity before upgrading your plan. Then raise it gradually while watching usage in the panel console. Our plan guidelines assume moderate AI on Hatchling and allow very dense AI on Elder.
Playable dinosaurs
The list of species players can choose is set with one line per species, most often in the form AllowedClasses=, in a section dedicated to the game state (for example [/Script/TheIsle.TIGameStateBase], depending on the version):
AllowedClasses=Dryosaurus
AllowedClasses=Hypsilophodon
AllowedClasses=Pachycephalosaurus
AllowedClasses=Stegosaurus
AllowedClasses=Tenontosaurus
AllowedClasses=Carnotaurus
AllowedClasses=Ceratosaurus
AllowedClasses=Dilophosaurus
AllowedClasses=Herrerasaurus
AllowedClasses=Omniraptor
AllowedClasses=Tyrannosaurus
- To remove a species, delete its line (or disable it as your file allows).
- To add a species, copy an existing line and change the name.
- The name must match the species' internal name exactly, including capitals. Reuse the names already in your file: the list of available species changes with Evrima updates.
If a species you added is not offered in game, check the spelling, the section the line is in, and that the species exists in the current version of the game. Restart the server after each change.
Growth speed
In Evrima, a dinosaur grows from juvenile to adult in real time. You can speed up growth for a more relaxed server.
| Key (check it in your file) | Purpose |
|---|---|
bEnableGrowthMultiplier | Enables the growth multiplier, if this setting exists in your version |
GrowthMultiplier | Growth speed multiplier (1 = normal speed) |
Example for growth twice as fast:
bEnableGrowthMultiplier=true
GrowthMultiplier=2
Fast growth suits small servers among friends. On a realism-focused community server, keep a value close to 1.
Other common gameplay options
Depending on the version, Game.ini may contain other survival settings. These are the ones most often found:
| Key (check it in your file) | Purpose |
|---|---|
bEnableMutations | Enables mutations passed down between generations |
bEnableDiets | Enables the diet system |
bEnableMigration | Enables migration zones, which force herbivores to move |
bEnablePatrolZones | Enables patrol zones |
bSpawnPlants | Enables regrowth of edible plants |
bEnableHumans | Allows or disallows playable humans, depending on the version |
If a key from this table does not exist in your file, it has probably been renamed or removed in your version: do not add it at random.
