RuneScape: Dragonwilds uses neither an admin list nor console commands: administration happens through an in-game server management screen, protected by a password. There are three player tiers.

The three tiers​

There is only one owner, defined by the Owner ID. The number of admins is not limited: anyone who knows the admin password becomes one.

Becoming the owner​

The owner is the person whose Player ID is set as the owner's ID in the server configuration. If you haven't done this yet, see Setting the owner's Player ID.

To transfer ownership to someone else, replace the Owner ID with the new person's Player ID (with the server stopped), then restart. See Configure the server.

Becoming an admin in game​

  1. Make sure an admin password is set in the server configuration (see Configure the server)
  2. Join the world
  3. Open the pause menu (Esc), then Settings → Server Management
  4. Enter the admin password

You remain an admin as long as the admin password isn't changed. The exact menu labels may vary with the game version.

Kicking or banning a player​

From the server management screen, in game:

  1. Select the player in the list of connected players
  2. Choose Kick or Ban

The player then moves to the list of kicked or banned players, where you can undo the action.

  • A kick removes the player from the session: they can come back.
  • A ban prevents them from coming back.
Only the owner can unban

An admin who bans someone by mistake cannot undo that ban: only the owner can. When in doubt, prefer a kick.

Removing an admin's rights​

There is no admin list to edit: the password is the access right. To remove someone's rights, change the admin password (with the server stopped), then share the new password only with people you trust. All other admins lose their rights too.

Protect the admin password
  • Never post it in a public Discord channel or in the server description.
  • Never use the same password for admin and world access: every player would become an admin.

Restricting access to the world​

For a server among friends, the most effective approach is to keep unwanted players out from the start:

  • set a world password (WorldPassword) and only share it with your group;
  • choose a distinctive world name.

Console commands​

As far as we know, the Dragonwilds dedicated server doesn't offer admin commands in the console: the panel Console is mostly used to start and stop the server and to read its logs. All moderation happens in game.

Giving a co-admin access to the panel​

In-game rights are separate from Game Panel access. To let a friend restart the server, manage backups or edit files, add them as a panel sub-user with the required permissions.
