Getting started with your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server

Since update 0.11 on March 31, 2026, RuneScape: Dragonwilds supports official dedicated servers. Your world stays online 24/7: your friends can play even while you're offline, without depending on the host's PC.

The game has left Early Access: version 1.0 launched on September 15, 2026 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Jagex Launcher), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, with crossplay between platforms.

This guide takes you from your order to your first connection. The other pages of this section then cover configuration, administration, backups and troubleshooting in detail.

What to know before you start

  • 6 players max: the game caps each dedicated server at 6 concurrent players.
  • The owner's ID: Jagex's official guide states that the server won't start without its owner's Player ID, the Owner ID. Jagex has announced that this requirement will become optional, but set it in any case: it works whatever the version. See below.
  • A game that keeps evolving: since version 1.0, Dragonwilds keeps receiving updates, which also affect the dedicated server. The server and the players must be on the same version.
  • Crossplay: since 1.0, dedicated servers have a crossplay option (Jagex release notes). Jagex hasn't detailed every condition for console players joining a dedicated server: if part of your group plays on console, contact support to check the setup.
  • Native Linux: at YorkHost, your server runs the official Linux build of the dedicated server.

Choosing a plan

YorkHost offers RuneScape: Dragonwilds server hosting on AMD Ryzen or Intel CPUs, NVMe storage and a 10 Gbps network in France, with backups and Anti-DDoS protection included and 7/7 support on Discord. Four plans are available:

PlanvCoresRAMStorageRecommended playersIndicative price
Bronze24 GB25 GB NVMe1-2 players€3.99/month

The reference prices and specifications are the ones shown on the RuneScape: Dragonwilds page of the YorkHost website at the time of ordering. You can upgrade to a bigger plan from your client area whenever your group grows.

How much RAM do you need?

The Dragonwilds dedicated server is lightweight. Its usage mostly depends on the number of connected players: as a rough guide, plan for about 2 GB as a base, plus 1 GB per player. That's 4 GB for 2 players, 6 GB for 4 players and 8 GB for a full 6-player server.

Accessing the Game Panel

Your server is managed from the Game Panel (Wisp):

  1. Log in to your Game Panel:
  2. Select your RuneScape: Dragonwilds server
  3. You land on the Console: this is where you start, stop and restart the server, and follow its startup in real time

The most useful tabs for Dragonwilds:

TabUse
ConsoleStart / stop the server, read the logs (server version, errors)
FilesFile manager: DedicatedServer.ini, world save folder
StartupStartup parameters exposed by the panel
BackupsServer backups
SchedulesScheduled tasks, for example an automatic restart

To transfer files (importing a world, copying a save), you can also use SFTP access. The credentials are in Settings → SFTP Details: see SFTP extension for VSCode or use a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.

Setting the owner's Player ID

This is the setting to fill in before the first start: Jagex's official guide presents it as required. Jagex has announced it will become optional (the server could then be claimed with the admin password), but we recommend setting it in any case.

Finding your Player ID

  1. Launch RuneScape: Dragonwilds on your PC
  2. Open the Settings menu
  3. Your Player ID is shown at the bottom of the menu, with a button to copy it
Player ID, not SteamID

The expected ID is your Dragonwilds Player ID, shown in the game. It is not your SteamID or your username.

Where to enter it

  1. In the panel, stop the server
  2. Open the Startup tab: if it has a variable for the owner's ID (Owner ID), paste your Player ID there. This is the preferred method
  3. Otherwise, fill in the OwnerId key of the DedicatedServer.ini file from the Files tab (see Configure the server)
  4. Start the server
Not sure?

If you can't find your Player ID or don't know where to enter it, our support team will guide you on Discord.

While you're at it, set the other basic settings: server name, world name, admin password and, if you wish, a world password. Everything is covered in Configure the server.

IP address and port

The server address is shown in the Game Panel, on your server's page, in the IP:PORT format. It's useful when you get in touch with support.

The Dragonwilds dedicated server's default port is 7777 (UDP), but at YorkHost the port is assigned by the panel and may be different. Opening the required ports is handled on our side (see Are all ports open?).

Do not change the port manually

Do not change the port in the configuration files or in the startup parameters: the server must listen on the port assigned by the panel, otherwise it will be unreachable.

Joining the server from the game

In Dragonwilds, you don't join a dedicated server by its IP address: you search for the world name.

  1. Wait until the panel Console shows that the server has finished starting
  2. Launch RuneScape: Dragonwilds
  3. Open the Worlds screen, then the Public tab
  4. Search for the exact world name (the world name, not the server name)
  5. Enter the world password if you set one
Case-sensitive search

The search takes capital letters and spaces into account: MyWorld and myworld are two different searches. Send the exact world name to your friends by copy-paste.

Same version as the server

After a game update, a server still on the old version no longer shows up in the search. Restart the server and check the versions: see Troubleshooting.
