Configure the server
A RuneScape: Dragonwilds dedicated server only has a few settings. They live in two places:
- the panel's Startup tab, which exposes the startup parameters provided for your server;
- the
DedicatedServer.inifile, which you edit from the Files tab or over SFTP.
Editing the configuration safely
Always stop the server from the panel Console before editing DedicatedServer.ini. A change made while the server is running is lost: the server rewrites the file and your changes disappear.
- Log in to your Game Panel: game.yorkhost.fr
- Select your server and stop it
- Change the variables in the Startup tab, or edit
DedicatedServer.iniin the Files tab - Save, then start the server
Startup tab or file: which one to use?
A value passed to the server through the startup command (Startup tab) takes precedence over the one in the file. For each setting:
- if there is a matching variable in the Startup tab, change it there: that's the one that counts;
- otherwise, change it in
DedicatedServer.ini.
If a change to the file seems to be ignored, check whether the same setting is defined in the Startup tab.
The DedicatedServer.ini file
On a Linux server, the file is usually located here, from the server root:
RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/DedicatedServer.ini
Depending on the dedicated server version, the folder may also be called Config/Linux/. The file is normally created by the server when it launches. If you can't find it, don't create it somewhere else: contact support.
The settings are grouped under a single section, in the Key=value format:
[/Script/Dominion.DedicatedServerSettings]
OwnerId=YourPlayerID
ServerName=Guild server
DefaultWorldName=GuildWorld
AdminPassword=AStrongAdminPassword
WorldPassword=
Download a copy of DedicatedServer.ini before a major update or a reinstall. Check the syntax after each change: no extra spaces around the =, one key per line.
Main settings
| Setting (file key) | Required | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
OwnerId | Yes (recommended in any case) | Player ID of the server owner. According to Jagex's official guide, the server won't start without it |
ServerName | Yes | Server name (shown as the world's creator) |
DefaultWorldName | Yes | Name of the world created on first start: this is the name players search for |
AdminPassword | Yes | Password that grants access to in-game server management |
WorldPassword | No | Password to enter the world. Empty = open world |
ServerGuid | No | Automatically generated ID. Do not change it |
Exact key names may change from one version to another: rely on the ones in the file generated by your server.
Since version 1.0 on September 15, 2026, dedicated servers have a crossplay option, according to Jagex's release notes. If the file generated by your server contains a crossplay- or platform-related setting, change it with the server stopped. If in doubt, or if console players can't join, contact support.
Owner ID (OwnerId)
Jagex's official guide states that the server won't start without this setting. Jagex has announced that the Owner ID will become optional (the server could then be claimed with the admin password), but set it in any case: it works whatever the version, and it's what defines the owner. It holds your Player ID, shown at the bottom of the game's Settings menu (with a copy button next to it). It is not your SteamID.
- If the Startup tab has a variable for the owner's ID, enter it there only.
- Otherwise, paste it after
OwnerId=inDedicatedServer.ini, with the server stopped.
The owner is also the only player who can unban: see Server administration.
If the server still refuses to start, or if you don't know where to enter the ID on your server, contact our support team on Discord: we'll check it with you.
Server name and world name
ServerNameis your server's name.DefaultWorldNameis the world name. This is what your players type in the Public tab to find you.
DefaultWorldName is only used when the server creates a new world. If a save already exists, the server loads it with the name it already has: changing this setting afterwards does not rename the existing world. See Backups and importing a world.
Admin password and world password
AdminPasswordgrants access to the in-game server management screen (kick, ban). Choose a strong password and only share it with people you trust.WorldPasswordprotects access to the world. Leave it empty for a world open to anyone who finds its name.
Never use the same password for AdminPassword and WorldPassword: otherwise every player who enters the world also knows the admin password and can ban the others.
Number of players
The game caps each dedicated server at 6 concurrent players. It's not possible to go beyond that. Choose your plan based on the size of your group: see Getting started.
Port
The port is assigned by the panel. Don't change it in DedicatedServer.ini or in the startup parameters: see Getting started.
What about mods?
As far as we know, the game doesn't offer official mod support on dedicated servers: your server runs the official dedicated server build. You keep full access to your files through the Files tab and SFTP if that changes.
