Getting started with your Conan Exiles server
This guide takes you from your order to your first connection: choosing a plan, getting around the Game Panel, joining from the game and making the first settings. The other pages of this section then cover configuration, administration, mods and backups in detail.
Choosing a plan
YorkHost offers Conan Exiles server hosting on AMD Ryzen or Intel CPUs, NVMe storage and a 10 Gbps network, with Anti-DDoS protection and 7/7 support on Discord. Four plans are available:
| Plan | vCores | RAM | Storage | Indicative price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Exile | 3 | 12 GB | 60 GB NVMe | €12.99/month | Small group of 1 to 10 players, vanilla |
| Barbarian | 4 | 16 GB | 80 GB NVMe | €18.99/month | 10 to 20 players, Steam Workshop mods: Funcom's recommended minimum |
| Chieftain | 6 | 24 GB | 120 GB NVMe | €25.99/month | 20 to 40 players, modded servers and big bases |
| Avatar | 8 | 32 GB | 160 GB NVMe | €34.99/month | 40 to 70 players, large communities and big modpacks |
The reference prices and specifications are the ones shown on the Conan Exiles page of the YorkHost website at the time of ordering. You can upgrade from your client area whenever your community grows.
Conan Exiles Enhanced: 16 GB recommended
Since May 2026, Conan Exiles runs on Unreal Engine 5 (Conan Exiles Enhanced). The server uses noticeably more RAM and CPU than on the old engine, and Funcom recommends 16 GB of RAM for the server.
- Exile (12 GB) works for a small vanilla group.
- For mods or more than 10 players, go for Barbarian or higher.
- Big bases, lots of thralls and pets, and Purges also put a heavy load on the CPU.
A server for PC players
The Conan Exiles dedicated server is for PC (Steam) players. PlayStation and Xbox players cannot join a PC dedicated server.
The official dedicated server is a Windows application: YorkHost runs that environment for you, so there's nothing to install.
Accessing the Game Panel
Your server is managed from the Game Panel (Wisp):
- Log in to your Game Panel:
- Select your Conan Exiles server
- You land on the Console: this is where you start, stop and restart the server, and follow its startup in real time
The most useful tabs for Conan Exiles:
| Tab | Use |
|---|---|
| Console | Start / stop the server, follow the logs |
| Files | File manager: ServerSettings.ini, Mods/ folder, game.db save |
| Startup | Startup parameters exposed by the panel |
| Backups | Server backups |
| Schedules | Scheduled tasks, for example an automatic restart |
To transfer large files (.pak mods, game.db save), SFTP access is more convenient than the web file manager. The credentials are in Settings → SFTP Details: see SFTP extension for VSCode or use a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.
On the very first launch, the server has to install itself, then create its configuration files and its database (game.db). This can take several minutes. Let the console run without restarting until the server is ready.
Finding the IP address and port
The connection address is shown in the Game Panel, on your server's page, in the IP:PORT format.
By default, Conan Exiles uses game port 7777 and Steam query port 27015, but at YorkHost the ports are assigned by the panel and are different. Always use the ones shown in the panel. Opening the required ports is handled on our side (see Are all ports open?).
Do not change the ports in the game's configuration files (Engine.ini, Game.ini…): the server must listen on the ports assigned by the panel, otherwise it will be unreachable.
Joining the server from the game
Once the panel console has settled (the server has finished starting):
- Launch Conan Exiles
- From the main menu, choose Play Online to open the server list
- Click the Direct Connect button at the bottom of the list
- Enter the IP and port shown in the panel, in the
IP:PORTformat - Enter the password if you set one
You can also search for your server by name in the server list. A new server may take a few minutes to show up there: in the meantime, use Direct Connect.
The client must be on the same version as the server and have the same mods. After a game or mod update, the connection may be refused until the server and every player are up to date. See Troubleshooting.
