Getting started with your Satisfactory server
This guide takes you from your order to your first session: choosing a plan, getting around the Game Panel, adding the server in the game's Server Manager and claiming it with your admin password. The other pages of this section then cover sessions, settings, mods, ports and troubleshooting.
Choosing a plan
YorkHost offers Satisfactory server hosting running the official dedicated server on native Linux, with AMD Ryzen or Intel CPUs, NVMe storage, Anti-DDoS protection and 7/7 support on Discord. Four plans are available:
| Plan | vCores | RAM | Storage | Indicative price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pioneer | 2 | 8 GB | 30 GB NVMe | €8.99/month | 1 to 4 players, early game |
| Engineer | 3 | 12 GB | 40 GB NVMe | €12.99/month | 4 to 8 players, mid-game factory |
| Megafactory | 4 | 16 GB | 60 GB NVMe | €17.99/month | 8 to 12 players or a large late-game factory |
| Project Assembly | 6 | 24 GB | 80 GB NVMe | €25.99/month | 12+ players, megafactories and mods |
The reference prices and specifications are the ones shown on the Satisfactory page of the YorkHost website at the time of ordering.
How much RAM do you need?
In Satisfactory, RAM usage depends less on player count than on the size of your factory: every building, conveyor belt, train and drone adds to the simulation. A fresh save needs just a few gigabytes, but a large late-game factory can take 12 to 16 GB or more. Mods increase memory usage further.
The simulation mostly runs on one main core, so CPU clock speed matters more than core count. You can move up to a bigger plan from your client area as your factory grows.
Accessing the Game Panel
Your server is managed from the Game Panel (Wisp):
- Log in to your Game Panel:
- Select your Satisfactory server
- You land on the Console: this is where you start, stop and restart the server, and follow its startup in real time
The most useful tabs for Satisfactory:
| Tab | Use |
|---|---|
| Console | Start / stop the server, read the logs |
| Files | File manager: configuration files (Game.ini, Engine.ini), .sav saves, mods |
| Startup | Startup parameters exposed by the panel |
| Backups | Server backups |
| Schedules | Scheduled tasks, for example an automatic restart |
To transfer saves or mods, SFTP access is often more convenient than the web file manager. The credentials are under Settings → SFTP Details: see SFTP extension for VSCode or use a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP.
Unlike many other games, Satisfactory is mainly managed from the game itself, with the Server Manager built into the main menu: claiming, passwords, creating a session, uploading a save, autosave. The panel is used for starting the server, advanced files and server backups.
Finding the IP address and port
The connection address is shown in the Game Panel, on your server's page, in IP:PORT format.
The game's default port is 7777, but at YorkHost ports are assigned by the panel and may be different. Always use the ones shown in the panel. Since update 1.1, the server also uses a second port (8888 by default): see Server ports.
Adding the server in the Server Manager
Once the server has been started from the panel Console:
- Launch Satisfactory (Steam or Epic Games Store)
- From the main menu, open the Server Manager
- Click Add Server
- Enter the IP address and port shown in the panel, then confirm
- The server appears in the list on the left: select it
If the server shows as offline right after being started, wait a moment: it must finish loading before it responds. Check the panel Console if in doubt.
Claiming the server
A new server belongs to nobody: the first player who connects to it through the Server Manager can claim it. Do it as soon as possible after delivery.
- Select your server in the Server Manager
- The game offers to claim it (Claim Server)
- Give it a name: this is what your players will see
- Set a strong admin password
- Confirm: you are now the server's administrator
The admin password gives access to all server settings from the Server Manager. Only share it with people you trust; for regular players, use a player password instead (see Server settings).
If you lose the admin password, the server has to be put back into an "unclaimed" state. The procedure is described in Server settings.
Starting a session and inviting friends
- Create a new session from the Server Manager's create game tab, or upload your single-player save: see Create or import a session
- Optionally set a player password in the server settings
- Share the IP and port from the panel: your friends add the server in their own Server Manager (Add Server), then join it
The PC versions of Satisfactory on Steam and the Epic Games Store can join the same dedicated server.
The client must be on the same version as the server. If your game has been updated but the server has not (or the other way around), the connection fails. See Troubleshooting.
