Standard

The adventure as the developers intended: exploration, boss fights, farming and building.

Hard

Tougher enemies and mistakes that cost more. Built for seasoned groups.

Creative

The mode is set when the world is created. To switch, the safest option is to generate a new world and keep the old one as a backup.

Connecting

Join your server with a Game ID

No IP address to remember and no ports to open: Core Keeper uses a game identifier.

  1. 1

    Start your server

It installs automatically after you order, then starts from the Wisp panel.

  2. 2

    Copy the Game ID

On startup, the server generates a Game ID that you'll find in the panel console.

  3. 3

    Join the game

In Core Keeper, select "Join Game", paste the Game ID and share it with your friends.

The Game ID works like an access key: only share it with the players you invite.

Mods

mod.io mods

Core Keeper has official mod support through mod.io. Mods that support dedicated servers are installed by uploading their files to the server, using the file manager or SFTP.

  • Install through the file manager or SFTP
  • Players usually need the same mods
  • Take a backup before adding a mod

Not every mod works on a dedicated server: some are client-side only. Check each mod's mod.io page before installing it.

Core Keeper server hosting: choosing and setting up your server

Renting a Core Keeper server keeps your underground world available around the clock: friends can mine, farm and push the adventure forward even when the host is offline, without slowing anyone's PC down. Here's how to pick the right plan and get your server set up properly.

Which plan fits your group?

Core Keeper is a lightweight game: memory usage mostly depends on how many players are online, how much of the world has been explored and which mods are installed. The further you dig from the Core, the more areas the server has to keep in memory.

  • Tin 1 vCore · 2 GBA duo or small group of 1 to 4 players on a vanilla world.
  • Scarlet 2 vCores · 4 GBA full group of 4 to 8 players, the game's official format.
  • Octarine 3 vCores · 6 GBMore than 8 players (raised MaxPlayers) or a few mods.
  • Galaxite 4 vCores · 8 GBHeavily explored worlds, modded servers or long-running playthroughs.

These are guidelines only: you can move up to a bigger plan from your client area as your world grows.

A native Linux dedicated server, reachable by Game ID

Core Keeper's official dedicated server ships with a Linux build, and we run it natively with no emulation layer. On startup it generates a Game ID that your friends enter in the "Join Game" menu. No ports to forward, no IP address to hand out.

Keep that Game ID within your group: it acts as the key to your server.

World modes, settings and mods

World name, seed, mode (Standard, Hard, Creative or Casual) and max player count are all set from the Wisp panel. The game is designed for 8 players; you can raise the cap, but the developer doesn't guarantee the experience beyond that.

For mods, Core Keeper relies on mod.io: check that a mod supports dedicated servers before installing it, and that your players run the same version.

Wisp panel, backups and support

You run your server from the Wisp panel: real-time console, file manager, SFTP access to import an existing world, backups and a task scheduler for restarts. Take a backup before every game update or new mod.

Our team answers on Discord 7 days a week for setup help, world imports or troubleshooting.

FAQ

FAQ - Core Keeper servers

Answers to common questions about our Core Keeper servers.

Core Keeper is light on resources. 2 GB (Tin) is enough for a small group of 1 to 4 players, and 4 GB (Scarlet) comfortably covers the 8 players the game is designed for. Go for 6 GB (Octarine) or 8 GB (Galaxite) if you raise the player cap, install mods or explore a very large world.

The game officially supports 8 simultaneous players. The dedicated server's MaxPlayers setting lets you raise that cap, but the developer doesn't guarantee the experience beyond 8. If you plan to go past 8 players, choose Octarine or Galaxite.

On startup, your server generates a Game ID, shown in the Wisp panel console. In Core Keeper, select "Join Game" and paste that Game ID. No ports to open. Only share the Game ID with players you invite: it works as an access key.

Yes, for mods that support dedicated servers. Core Keeper uses mod.io: upload the mod files to the server with the file manager or SFTP, and make sure your players have the same mods in the same version. Some mods are client-side only, so check their mod.io page before installing.

Yes. Grab your world file from Core Keeper's save folder on your PC, then upload it to the server using the file manager or SFTP. Take a backup before importing. Our support team can walk you through it on Discord if needed.

These settings are configured from the Wisp panel before the world is created. The mode (Standard, Hard, Creative or Casual) is set at creation: to switch, the safest option is to generate a new world and keep the old one as a backup.

Our dedicated servers are built for the PC (Steam) version of Core Keeper. Cross-platform play isn't guaranteed on a dedicated server: if console players are part of your group, contact our support before ordering.

Yes, backups are included with every Core Keeper plan. You create and restore them from the Wisp panel, and you can automate them with the task scheduler. We recommend taking one before every game update or new mod.

Yes, your Core Keeper server is deployed automatically within minutes of payment. You then grab your Game ID from the panel console and invite your friends.
